After achieving her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2000, she continued to advance her veterinary training with a one-year internship at Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Tinton Falls, NJ and then a three-year residency program in medical oncology in Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in Houston, TX becoming one of the first 150 board certified medical oncologists and in 2005, the first African American female board certified veterinary medical oncologist in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.
From Student to Leader
After completing her residency, she went on to lead the oncology service at Fifth Avenue Veterinary Specialists, a prestigious specialty referral practice in New York City. Being drawn pursue clinical research at an innovative center, with multiple oncologists, she later relocated to Los Angeles in 2010 to join Veterinary Cancer Group.
